The Observatory of Vulnerable Peoples\u2019Rights (OVPR) is a national non-governmental organization created in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda on 12\/01\/2019 by a group of eleven people, including human rights defenders and other professionals, in accordance with Law n \u00b0 04\/2012 of 17\/02\/2012 on the organization and functioning of non-governmental organizations.
\nThe participants in the Constituent General Assembly decided to create the OVPR with the mission of promoting and protecting the rights of the person in difficulty as guaranteed by the constitution of the Republic of Rwanda, the laws in force in Rwanda, the declaration Universal Human Rights Charter, the African Charter on Human and Peoples\u2019 Rights, as well as other international human rights instruments.
\nThe OVPR aims to promote and protect the rights of human rights defenders, the rights of journalists, the rights of refugees and detainees, the rights of children and women, as well as the rights of people living with handicap by:<\/p>\n

- Monitoring and evaluation;<\/li>\n
- Free legal and \/ or extrajudicial assistance and representation;<\/li>\n
- Information on the fundamental principles of human rights through the media and training through research centers;<\/li>\n
- The granting of advisory opinions.
\nWithin it it includes a structure made up of certain bodies including the General Assembly which is the supreme body, then the Steering Committee which is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of the organization, then the Supervisory Board which has the mission to control the administrative and financial management of the organization and ultimately the conflict resolution body responsible for resolving any disputes that may arise in the organization.
\nTo carry out its activities, the OVPR includes a team of competent people, determined and dedicated in their commitment to serve all categories of the needy as mentioned above.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
